Welcome Week Program Proposal

Welcome Week is a University initiative that will require assistance from many campus departments and community partners.  There are a number of ways your department or organization can contribute to Welcome Week 2008:

  • Facility/Staffing: If you are able to cover costs for facility usage, resources and/or staffing within your departmental budget to offset Welcome Week costs, please select this option below.
  • Entertainment:  If you would like to plan an evening entertainment activity or an event, select this option below.
  • Interest Session: If you have a program session idea you would like to share with students, select this option.
  • Side Trip (Saturday, August 30):  Side trips are meant to expose students to the many communities and activities within the Twin Cities.  Select this option below if you want to coordinate a side trip or event in the community.
  • Service Project (Sunday, August 31):  A Welcome Week goal is to have students begin to understand civic responsibility and participate in service projects.  Select this option below if you can host a service project either on or off campus.

Please note the following prior to completing this proposal:

  • Welcome Week will take place Wednesday, August 27, 2008 - Monday, September 1, 2008.
  • Events held strictly to recruit students to organizations will not be allowed outside of designated times.
  • Proposals must complement the mission of Welcome Week.  Click here to see the mission.
  • Collaboration on efforts is encouraged and may be strongly suggested if multiple departments have similar proposals.
  • Requests for supplies and money are not guaranteed. Please base proposals on pre-existing funds and materials if possible.
  • The priority deadline has passed. Proposals submitted now will be reviewed on an as-needed basis.
  • In order to best meet the needs of the Welcome Week program, Orientation & First-Year Programs reserves the right to make decisions on program proposal acceptance as well as the date/time/location of event proposed.
  • If you have further questions or concerns, please contact Orientation & First-Year Programs at 612-624-1979.
